A most strikingly attractive hand-carved large York Stone Cattle Trough, recently unearthed from the corner of an upper Airedale farm meadow which for at least 200 years had been its resting place, serving water from a moorland spring that ran into it continuously.

This lovely old trough would have been hand-chiselled out of a rough gritstone boulder. A chunk-lost countless years back is missing from the rear right-hand corner, and is part of the trough’s long history.
