Old Stone Sinks

Old stone sinks were often found in old cottages, historic country houses and farm-house kitchens – (in the Pennines they were called ‘Slopstones’) – and were sometimes used as salting tables during the process of preserving meat, particularly pork.

These shallow stone sinks, (being around 3″ to 6″ deep) usually display centuries of wear and therefore, are most attractive when used as stone planters for colourful alpines, heathers and rockery plants.

That Elusive Trough

Due to the ever burgeoning popularity for incorporating them into garden and landscaping designs, these beautiful, antique British and Irish stone troughs and stone sinks are becoming increasingly hard to find.

However, at DANDELION, where we have a significant stock of stone troughs, if we haven’t got the trough you desire, then due to our many contacts scattered throughout the British Isles, we can usually find that elusive stone trough for you.

Seeking that elusive Stone Trough – We can help, you just have to ask!
