DAN 4637

Description For Sale

A truly bonny specimen of a mid-nineteenth century yorkshire dale’s cottage sink or salting table. They can be useful for dog washing in boot rooms, or as an attractive curiosity of a kitchen sink.

Old stone sinks were often found in old cottages, historic country houses and farm-house kitchens – (in the Pennines they were called ‘Slop-stones’) – and were used specifically as salting tables during the process of preserving meat, particularly pork and fish.
