Beautiful antique weathered stone gate posts made from Limestone, Millstone Grit, Red Furness Sandstone etc., make splendid standing stones that can be placed in the centre of a lawn or grassed area and make a truly wonderful eye-catching display.

This example of an ancient weathered and gnarled Limestone Standing Stone (right) is a good indicator of how the old gate posts, once set in a lawned area, can look fantastic.
Another exciting idea is to have one standing stone surrounded by a circle of much shorter stones.
Alternatively a single standing stone could be surrounded by colourful heathers, rock plants, perennials or even attractive bedding plants.
